BECOMING · ESSAY

A wider horizon starts with one small step.

There are seasons when the life you have built no longer tells the whole story of who you are. That can feel unsettling. It can also be an invitation.

Midlife has a way of asking new questions. What still fits? What feels alive? What have you been curious about for years but kept postponing? You do not need an answer to every question before you begin.

Maybe beginning looks like making a meal you actually want to eat, taking a walk without turning it into a task, calling a friend, or giving a long-held idea an hour of your attention. Small steps are still steps. They let you learn what gives you energy before you decide where to go next.

Being rooted in who you have been can give you the courage to grow toward who you are becoming.

There is no single version of a good next chapter. Yours may have room for more rest, more strength, more laughter, more connection, or a completely new direction. You get to notice what matters and move from there.

Start where you are. Stay curious. Let the horizon widen one choice at a time.
